She untied the handwoven blanket, a gift from her grandparents, from the back of her saddle, and laid it on the rock, then settled herself there to take in the view of her ranch—her gentle and thoughtful mark on the earth.
After flipping through a few pages, she pointed to a picture of a young family seated on the beach. Three young boys sat in front of their parents, almost exact versions of each other with reddish-blond hair and toothy grins.
